Summer in the City brings classic summer fun to the entire community! This series is made up of four different events hosted at the Jones Center’s outdoor campus from June through September.

Prepare to get muddy with your kids and friends at our Obstacle Runaround or cool off at our FREE Splash Bash community block party. Cozy up to the campfire with s’mores at our Community Campout and compete in the second annual Jones Center Pickleball Tournament!

obstacle runaround / June 14, 2025

Kids and adults team up for a series of challenges designed to build endurance, strength, and agility while encouraging teamwork at the 2025 Obstacle Runaround! This outdoor event is a beloved obstacle race where grown-ups and kids conquer challenges together. Teams of two will navigate 10+ obstacles on the course, including a mud pit, tire run, army crawl, and more. You’ll have so much fun, you can do the course more than once!

WHAT: Obstacle Runaround
WHEN: Saturday, June 14, 10am-12pm
WHO: Teams of two; one child (ages 3-12) and one adult (18+)
WHERE: Community Park at the Jones Center
COST: $35 per team/$28 for members

splash bash / July 19, 2025

Beat the heat with outdoor water fun and activities at our free Splash Bash community block party! Enjoy inflatable water slides, water balloons, games, and activities, a Capture the Flag competition, a giant slip-n-slide, music, and dancing – plus a Toddlers Zone for the little ones. Bring your swimsuit and join the fun!

You will need to sign a waiver upon entry to the event.

DETAILS: Inflatables and games will be ongoing. Lawn chairs are recommended. Concessions will be available for purchase.



PICKLE-LOOZA / AUGUST 23, 2025

Join us at the Jones Center for our second annual mixed doubles pickleball tournament! We’ll be serving up a lively competition and a seriously fun experience for all skill levels. Teams of two will compete through a bracket system with winners receiving medals and a year’s worth of bragging rights!

Participants aged 16 and older are welcome to join the tournament.

WHEN: Saturday, August 23, 2025
TIME: 9am-5pm
COST: $50 per team
WHO: Teams of 2 players aged 16 or older; mixed gender or all female
DEADLINE TO REGISTER: August 20, 2025

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:

Max of 20 teams, 10 per bracket. Two brackets:

  • Blue: 2.5-3.2 rating

  • White: 3.3-3.9 rating

Phase 1: Pool Play (~4 hours)

  • Four pools of 5 teams. Each team plays 4 matches.

  • The top 4 teams will advance.

  • Tie breakers will be determined by the total points scored. If additional tiebreaker is needed, point differentials from each match will be totaled to determine which ranking or advancement.

Phase 2: Bracket Play (~4 hours)

  • Teams will be seeded in the bracket based on pool play. The top team in each pool will receive the most favorable position in the bracket, while the last-place team in each pool will receive the least favorable position.

  • Brackets will consist of 8 teams.

  • Single elimination.

Community Campout / September 5-6, 2025

Sleep out under the stars with your family at the Jones Center's third annual Community Campout. This event is perfect for those new to camping and eager to learn how to pitch a tent and survive in the wilderness. There will be educational pop-ups featuring kids' crafts and nature exploration. The Jones Center staff will be there to assist you and ensure your camping experience is enjoyable.

Your camping adventure will include campfire cooking, s’mores, stories around the campfire, outdoor games, live music, and more. Whether you love camping or haven’t ever tried it before, this event is for you!

WHAT: Community Campout
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 5, 6pm - Saturday, Sept. 6, 10am
WHO: All ages; 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult
WHERE: North Community Park at the Jones Center
COST: $50 non-member/$40 member per-campsite.
DETAILS:

  • Campsites accommodate up to 6 people. You can choose a tent size while registering, while inventory is available. Options are 2-person, 4-person or 6-person. You can also bring your own if you prefer!

  • Education pop-ups: wilderness survival, kid’s crafts, nature exploration and more!

  • Food options

o Dinner: Hotdogs (condiments & toppings included), chips. Vegan food options available. Request at registration. Sodas and additional items available for purchase.

o   Dessert: Make your own S’mores!

o   Breakfast: Yogurt bar, fruit, muffins. Coffee available for purchase.

  • Live music

  • Late-night movie

  • Morning yoga session for the whole family

  • Fenced-in secure location on west side of campus

  • Security onsite 24/7

  • Bring your lawn chair, bedding, and whatever else you need for a sleepover
