LEARN TO CLIMB
SPring 2024
Reach new heights and develop skill, strength and confidence in our Learn to Climb class. Youth ages 10-14 are invited to learn the basics of rock climbing and bouldering – with no experience necessary.
Learn to Climb lets kids experience Northwest Arkansas’ climbing infrastructure and the great outdoors while learning the value of teamwork, personal responsibility and how to be good stewards of the environment.
Classes start March 26 and meet nine times through May 21. Classes are held on and off The Jones Center campus (schedule below). Activity scholarships are available (contact below).
Benefits of rock climbing:
Strength, endurance & flexibility
Hand, feet & eye coordination
Confidence & self esteem
Problem-solving, planning & decision-making skills
Classes rotate between The Jones Center and Ozark Climbing Gym in Springdale, with field trips to Climb Bentonville and Fitzgerald Mountain in Springdale. In addition to technical proficiencies, youth will learn valuable lessons, like leaving no trace behind in the outdoors and basic first aid.
Youth who complete the class and pass a proficiency exam will be given their own climbing gear. Transportation and lunches are provided on field trip days. Come climb with us!
